Most anticipated, upcoming VR Games for 2018

2017 had many fantastic VR pieces to be celebrated. Everything from Lone Echo to Fallout VR took the scene by storm and are herald as innovative masterpieces.

Alas, year on year, most experiences seem to be getting better, giving us something to look forward to for 2018.

Looking at announcements so far, we thought we’d put together a list of some of the very best upcoming experiences for Virtual Reality.

Payday 2 VR

  • Publisher: Overkill Software
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: HTC Vive

While the beta version may currently be out, VR users across the world are highly anticipating the full release of the Payday 2 VR addon.

It only seems a natural progression for the studio which has already invested heavily in its platform, Star VR.


Vacation Simulator

  • Publisher: Owlchemy Labs
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: Oculus, Vive, PSVR

After Owlchemy Lab’s critically acclaimed success of Job Simulator, Rick & Morty and it's acquisition by Google, the bar has been set high for Vacation Simulator.

Promising to deliver even more witty comedy in a simulation run entirely by robots, Vacation Simulator may be your next chance to grab a break in the bright sun and golden sand.


Brass Tactics

  • Publisher: Hidden Path Entertainment
  • Release Date: 22 Feb 2018
  • Platform: Oculus

Bringing real-time strategy to Virtual Reality, Hidden Path Entertainment has been working on the tabletop game, Brass Tactics.

It combines a 6-hour story campaign with online competitive and co-op modes to completely revolutionise the way RTS games are played.

  • Release Date: Spring 2018
  • Platform: Oculus, HTC Vive, PSVR

Psychological Thriller, Transference, is the latest in a collaboration between Spectre Vision and Ubisoft Montreal.

Treating the game as more of a movie, the player can explore the digitally recreated memories of an obsessive man with a negative story to tell.


Walking Dead VR

  • Publisher: Skybound, Skydance
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: TBA

In a series of games to be released throughout 2018, this Walking Dead VR series will follow a completely new set of characters in the same familiar world we’ve been accustomed to.

Details on this game have been kept deliberately vague as Skybound and Skydance work towards a 2018 release of the title.


Star Child

  • Publisher: Playful Corp
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: PSVR

Known for creating the highly successful Lucky’s Tale, Playful Corp is continuing to build on its platforming adventure, Star Child, which follows the story of Spectra and her companion to an alien planet.

Exclusive to PSVR, the VR game will focus on the power of subtle storytelling through changing environments and sharp cinematic visuals.


Echo Combat

  • Publisher: Ready at Dawn
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: Oculus

As a significant expansion to Echo Arena, Echo Combat brings a whole new level to the game.

The expansion aims to bring a multiplayer, zero-gravity, first-person shooter expansion to the series - solidify a place for online, zero-g combat to take flight in Virtual Reality for the first time.


Budget Cuts

  • Publisher: Neat Corporation
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: HTC Vive

Stealth is where it is all at when it comes to Neat Corporations game, Budget Cuts, which has had its demo out since April 2016.

The VR game features an exciting portal like locomotion system complete with knife-throwing stealth action and murderous killing machines.





  • Publisher: Survios
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift

Electronauts is the latest game to be announced by Survios, developers of the award-winning game, Raw Data.

Immersing the player in an interactive sonic environment where you can drop, remix and jam with friends, the game sets the stage for aspiring musicians, DJs or people who just want to have fun.


Marvel Powers United VR

  • Publisher: Oculus Studios & Sanzaru
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Platform: Oculus Rift

Bringing the Marvel IP to Virtual Reality, Marvel Powers United gives you the opportunity to unleash your virtual superpowers through your favourite superheroes.

Players can team up with friends in explosive co-op fights and make use of ground or aerial combat through intuitive locomotion/controls.
